Wednesday Season 2 has gotten a big filming update per the official account for the Netflix series. The Jenna Ortega-led series got a big update whilst confirming the exit of one of its stars, Percy Hynes White, after his sexual assault allegations.

Wednesday Season 2's filming update

In a video posted on Wednesday's official X account, they announced that filming is underway. As Danny Elfman's iconic score plays in the background, Thing delivers scripts for Wednesday Season 2 to the cast members' doors.

He last approaches Ortega's door. She opens the door in character, revealing the title of the first episode of the second season, “Here We Woe Again.” The trailer also confirmed that Tim Burton will direct the inaugural episode of the second season.

“More torture awaits,” she says.

The cast list then sprawls across the screen. Ortega, Emma Myers, and Hunter Doohan headline the returning names. Steve Buscemi was recently cast in the Netflix series and is listed second on the cast list. Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) will also be a guest star in the series.

Big cast adjustments

Some notable names were missing. Percy Hynes White headlines this list. He isn't the only exit, though.

The Season 2 teaser notably omitted the names of Jamie McShane and Naomi J. Ogawa as well. McShane will allegedly return as a guest star, per Deadline.

As for White, he was canned after he was accused of sexual assault. White released a statement in June 2023 denying the allegations.

The move shouldn't be too surprising. The Daily Mail reported last September that White had been written out of the second season after the sexual assault allegations surfaced. It remains to be seen how they will write him out of the second season. Perhaps his character simply doesn't return to Nevermore Academy.

What is Wednesday?

Wednesday is a series revolving around Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family. The series follows the title character, played by Ortega, as she attends Nevermore Academy.

In the first season, Wednesday attempts to solve a murder mystery at Nevermore Academy. She is sent to the school after fighting back against her brother's bullies at her previous school.

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar co-created the series with Tim Burton serving as a producer. Additionally, Burton directed the first half of the first season of the Netflix series. It does appear that he will return as a director in the second season as well.

Jenna Ortega not only stars in the series but joined the show as a producer in Season 2. She received an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series nomination at the Emmys for her performance in Wednesday.

Gwendoline Christie, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Isaac Ordonez also starred in the first season. The first season's guest stars included Fred Armisen, William Houston, and Joanna Lumley.
