The New York Giants are coming off another disappointing season with a record of 6-10. They were in the worst division in the NFL last year and finished one game behind the Washington Football Team. While the division was bad last year, it is bound to be tougher this year after the offseason moves teams made.

The Giants made some great moves in the offseason, which has put the team in a position to make the playoffs. They added multiple weapons for quarterback Daniel Jones that will help him progress. Kenny Golladay was the most notable of those additions as he was inked up to a 4 year $72 million deal. He is a star receiver that is great in jump ball situations. The other addition was wide receiver Kadarius Toney, who was taking in the first round.

These additions along, with the other offseason moves, have put the Giants in a position to succeed. Although the offseason has been great, the Giants still need to make a few moves.

Here are 3 potential trade candidates for the Giants entering the 2021 training camp.

Giants trade candidates:

3. Wide receiver Sterling Shepard

The Giants are still in the rebuilding process and need to move on from some veterans. Sterling Shepard has been a solid player but is no longer needed with the new acquisitions. Shepard could be a solid addition for other teams around the league that need a wide receiver. Last season Shepard had 656 yards and 3 touchdowns which were solid numbers in his role.

In return, the Giants could get a player at a position of need or draft capital.

2. Safety Logan Ryan

Logan Ryan is a versatile defensive player as he can play free safety and cornerback. However, he is a veteran, and the Giants have young players waiting behind in the depth chart. Xavier McKinney was drafted by the Giants in the 2nd round back in 2020, and he needs more playing time this season.

Ryan simply doesn't fit the timeline of the team and should be traded for future assets. He would be great on a contending team and would free up the young players to blossom into stars.

1. Offensive tackle Nate Solder

Nate Solder is another player that the Giants need to unload. Solder is an aging veteran lineman with 2 more years under contract. With 2020 first-round pick Andrew Thomas on the roster, the Giants are no longer in need of Solder.

This is another scenario where the Giants need to trade away a veteran away. It will allow their young players to shine while bringing in some value in return. A contending team looking for an offensive lineman could use an experienced veteran like Solder.

If the Giants can unload Solder, it will be great for their future.

Giants 2021 season preview

The Giants are on track for a successful season with a revitalized offense. With new weapons at his disposal, Jones has a chance to prove himself to be the franchise quarterback for years to come. The team is loaded with young talent that has a chance to shine and breakout in this 2021 season.

Another big storyline heading into the season is the return of star running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley suffered a torn ACL in Week 2, which sidelined him for the season. Getting a 1 time Pro Bowler back in the game will elevate the offensive production. That paired with the new offensive talent could result in a top offense in the league.

Look for the Giants to have a great 2021 campaign and make a run at the playoffs.
