The Western Conference finals of the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs is going to be one hell of a series, mainly because fans are going to see Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid going head to head, beginning this coming Tuesday when the MacKinnon’s Colorado Avalanche play host to McDavid’s Edmonton Oilers.

MacKinnon and the Avs needed six games to eliminate the St. Louis Blues in the second round, while the Oilers took just five games to take out the mighty Calgary Flames, who were the ones expected by many to meet Colorado in the third round. But McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were simply too much to handle for Darryl Sutter’s Flames in the 2022 edition of the Battle of Alberta, which is also seemingly the same two players who will be keeping MacKinnon up at night.

“It is only going to get harder next round. We will be playing against two of the best players in the world,” MacKinnon #Oilers #Avs

McDavid and Draisaitl took the Flames to the woodshed with blistering performances, with the two combining for 29 points. Moreover, McDavid and Draisaitl both scored over 100 points back in the regular season. The Avalanche will be dealing with those two in the conference finals, not to mention the rejuvenated Evander Kane, Zach Hyman, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

The Avalanche’s firepower isn’t too shabby, either. MacKinnon together with the likes of Cale Makar, Gabriel Landeskog, Mikko Rantanen, and Nazem Kadri are all dangerous weapons on the attack.
