The Chicago Bears' defense was phenomenal throughout the 2018 season. One of the main reasons was the play of Danny Trevathan at inside linebacker.

In an article by Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic, the Bears linebacker said he is happy in Chicago but said: “I take nothing for granted“. Trevathan made this statement after the article speaks about the veteran linebacker playing in a contract year in 2019.

“I’m just appreciating each day,” Trevathan said during OTAs. “It’s a blessing to be this far. I take nothing for granted. I just work my tail off and try to bring as many people along with me as I can. We’ve been moving it forward in the right direction. That’s what you like to see in an organization that’s young. Four years here, man. It feels great. I still feel like I’ve got plenty more in me. I’m taking it stride by stride.”

Of course, Danny Trevathan is the first player under Ryan Pace to make it to the fourth year in a contract. Along with Trevathan, Bobby Massie is the first player under Pace to make it to the third year on his current contract.

Nonetheless, Danny Trevathan will likely assume a large role in the defense again under new defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano. Chicago will also like to see Roquan Smith take another step forward in his second season in the NFL.

Last year, the Bears' veteran inside linebacker collected 102 tackles, two interceptions, eight tackles for loss, and two sacks. All of those numbers were career-high marks with the franchise. If Trevathan hopes to stay in Chicago, he'll need to have another impressive campaign in 2019.
