The Chicago Bears' trade for former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles recently became official. It seems both sides have already managed to iron out the paperwork for his new deal restructured deal.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Foles is slated to make $8 million in base salary and will still receive the guaranteed money in the deal he signed with Jacksonville:

— $24M over 3 years with $21M still fully guaranteed.
— $6M available in incentives per year.
— Every $1 earned of incentives also escalates the next year’s salary
— He can void '21 & '22 based on performance

The Bears opted to shake things up under center following another underwhelming year from quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Although there were a number of intriguing options on the free-agent market this offseason, it seems the opportunity to secure a former Super Bowl MVP at a bargain price was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

It is safe to say that this is a rather team-friendly deal considering the price tag that is usually paid out to starting-caliber quarterbacks. Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not Foles will be able to provide Chicago with plenty of bang for their buck in the 2020 NFL season.

Despite having some voids to fill on the roster, the Bears have been relatively quiet in free agency up to this point. Fortunately, they now have a better idea of the resources at their disposal now that the deal with Foles has been completed.

With the 2020 NFL Draft approaching, it will only be a matter of time before they put the rest of their cap space to good use.
