Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green did not play at all in 2019 due to an ankle injury he suffered in training camp.

Many felt the Bengals would try to trade Green at the Week 8 deadline, but they opted to hold on to him and then slapped a franchise tag on him last month.

Green has repeatedly stated his desire to remain in Cincinnati, so the veteran surely didn't have much of a problem with the Bengals locking him in for 2020.

But, of course, Bengals fans are hoping that their star wideout is healthy for next season. Head coach Zac Taylor provided some good news on that front Wednesday:

“Everything’s been positive with A.J.,” Taylor said during a conference call, via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. “He’s fully healthy and is working hard. He’s been in Atlanta. It’s all been positive in that regard.”

A healthy Green has been hard for the Bengals to come by in recent years.

Since 2016, the 31-year-old has played just one full season, which came in 2017. Otherwise, Green appeared in just 10 contests in 2016 and participated in nine games in 2018 before missing all of 2019.

When he is right, Green is unquestionably one of the best receivers in the NFL.

The University of Georgia product entered the league as a fourth overall pick of Cincinnati's back in 2011 and proceeded to make the Pro Bowl in each of his first seven seasons, logging over 1,000 yards in six of those seven campaigns. The one year he didn't hit 1,000 yards during that span was 2016, when he missed six games.
