A dark cloud is hanging over Cincinnati Bengals training camp thanks to an ankle injury to wide receiver A.J. Green that will keep him out for six-to-eight weeks.

Green, who missed seven games this past season due to a toe injury, was obviously very upset about the injury, and new Bengals head coach Zac Taylor feels his wide out's pain.

“I’d be disappointed, too,” Taylor said, according to John Fay of The Cincinnati Enquirer. “He’s coming back from an injury, then this happens. Obviously, he’s down. We say, ‘you’re A.J. Green. You’ll bounce back from this. You’ll have the season you’re expecting to have.’ I’m proud of the way he’s handled the adversity. I look forward to having him back — whenever that time comes.”

During the time he was on the field in 2018, Green caught 46 passes for 694 yards and six touchdowns. It marked the first time in Green's eight-year career that he did not make the Pro Bowl.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Georgia, was originally selected by Cincinnati with the fourth overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft.

He had a terrific rookie season, hauling in 65 receptions for 1,057 yards and seven scores en route to his first Pro Bowl appearance. Through his first seven years in the league, Green logged 1,000 yards in all but one season, which came in 2016 when he totaled 964 yards due to the fact that he missed six games due to injuries.

Green's best season came in 2013, when he snared 98 balls for 1,426 yards while reaching the end zone 11 times.
