Patrick Peterson, an all-pro cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals, is “here to stay” in Phoenix. He had requested for a trade last season after the worst season in the team's recent history. However, he's had a change of heart ever since the offseason seemed to bring some promise for the future.

Peterson told Kyle Odegard of the team's official website:

“I just want to apologize to everybody for asking for that trade in the middle of the season. I’m here to stay, baby. I think we’re definitely moving in the right direction… I’m happy with the decisions that ownership made this offseason.”

The Cardinals agreed to terms with former Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury after firing former head coach Steve Wilks after just one season. Hiring Kingsbury was quite the strong move for Arizona. It's also quite risky. Kingsbury has never even coached at the NFL level and was just recently fired the school.

Kingsbury was the head coach at Texas Tech for six years and finished his tenure there with a 35-40 total record. They reached three bowl games in his time in Texas and won only one. He is considered an offensive mastermind and was recently hired to be USC’s quarterback coach. He also was Patrick Mahomes coach for two years, for what its worth.

Last season the Cardinals went 3-13 under head coach Steve Wilks. They were one of the worst teams in the NFL. Wilks’ offense only averaged 14.1 points per game, which ranked last in the NFL. They also allowed 25.6 points per game, which ranked 26th overall in the entire league.

The new era under Kingsbury should allow for a more modernized offensive attack with their young quarterback Josh Rosen The future is bright as the desert sun in Arizona.
