Safety Eric Reid joined the Carolina Panthers this season. He has already been drug tested seven times.

After his team's loss to the New Orleans Saints on Monday night, Reid received a notice that he had been chosen for random drug testing. Reid doesn't seem to think it's so random:

The notice came on the heels of Reid wearing Colin Kaepernick-inspired tweets for the game against the Saints:

Reid played with Kaepernick on the San Francisco 49ers and has long been a supporter of Kaepernick's cause, so, clearly, Reid thinks there may be some kind of conspiracy going on where the league is trying to get him.

In 11 games this season, Reid has recorded 64 tackles, a sack, an interception and four passes defended.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by the 49ers in the first round (18th pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He burst on to the scene during his rookie campaign, racking up 91 stops, four picks, a couple of fumble recoveries and 11 passes defended en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

The following year, Reid wasn't quite as effective, finishing with 42 tackles, three interceptions and seven passes defended.

He spent the first five years of his career in San Francisco before signing a one-year deal with Carolina back in late September.

After their loss to the Saints, the Panthers fell to 6-8 and were all but eliminated from playoff contention. The Minnesota Vikings currently hold the second Wild Card spot in the NFC at 7-6-1, and the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins are both in front of the Panthers at 7-7.
