D.J. Moore is set to step into the No. 1 wide receiver role for the Carolina Panthers in 2019. After the team lost Devin Funchess to the Indianapolis Colts in free agency, they will need a big season from Moore.

Count NFL wide receiver legend Larry Fitzgerald as one who thinks that Moore is ready for the challenged. He went on the record to state that he believes Moore will be “phenomenal” this coming season, as shared by 247 Sports.

“I think it’s going to be a great year, and you always see that big jump from year one to year two. I think he’s going to be phenomenal.”

Hearing those words from Fitzgerald should certainly excite the Panthers and their fans. Moore showed flashes of big-play potential last season. Becoming a No. 1 receiver isn't an easy task, but he has big potential.

Last season as a rookie with the Panthers, Moore ended up catching 55 passes for 788 yards and two touchdowns. He had some consistency issues, but that is to be expected from a rookie wide receiver.

Cam Newton will rely heavily on Moore. Greg Olsen will also be a top target for the Panthers, although he has struggled with health issues over the last few seasons. If he has problems again this season, Carolina will be very short on weapons, unless they go out and sign or draft a receiver or two.

At just 21 years of age, Moore has a big task ahead of him. He has proved critics wrong his entire career and isn't looking to come up short now.
