The Carolina Panthers enter their offseason looking to install some new defensive looks when it comes to how they operate. With these new looks, linebacker Luke Kuechly will be taking on a slightly different role than he’s used to. According to him, though, it isn’t anything to worry about.

With the Panthers aiming to incorporate more 3-4 looks into their defense for the 2019 regular season, Kuechly will naturally have to align elsewhere on the field at times. For a guy who’s spent his entire career dominating the middle of the field, this might be a big change. For Kuechly, though, it’s not something that he’s thought about much.

“It’s just football. There’s been certain looks that we’ve run in the past that mimic what we do now. So it’s not completely foreign,” Kuechly said via Joseph Person of The Athletic. “There’s just a couple new things here and there that are different, but pretty straightforward.”

While Kuechly did note that the Panthers would be utilizing different looks from time-to-time, he noted that it didn’t change too much from what they currently use, and that “it just turns into the same thing we’ve always done” as the plays get underway.

For the Panthers, they’ll likely be hoping that Kuechly’s play is also something that stays consistent, as he’s been one of the most dominant linebackers in the sport since his debut. While a scary injury history does exist for the star linebacker, Kuechly has consistently shown the ability to be a great leader and player for the Panthers, no matter the defensive scheme.
