Julian Edelman played all 16 games for the New England Patriots in 2019, but that doesn't mean he ended the season in good health. The star slot receiver will need to have two surgeries in the offseason to fix his shoulder and knee, according to Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald.

In 2019, Edelman played with a separated AC joint in his left shoulder, according to previous reports. Later in the season, he suffered an injury in his left knee. His shoulder will be surgically repaired while his knee will require a scope to identify and remove loose bodies. It is unknown when he will undergo both procedures.

Despite playing injured for much of the season, Edelman finished the year as the Patriots' top receiver. He tallied 100 receptions for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns. His yardage mark is a career-high. The 33-year-old also played through a ribs injury.

The Patriots named Edelman as their 2019 Ed Block Courage Award winner, which “is bestowed annually upon a player who best exemplifies the principles of courage and sportsmanship while also serving as a source of inspiration,” as said in an official release.

Previous winners of the award include Nate Ebner, Matthew Slater and Nate Solder.

If all goes right, Edelman will not miss anytime in 2020. He should be available for training camp, although, OTAs are a bit of a question mark.

Luckily, for Edelman, he will not have to endure the pain any longer. The Patriots' 2019 campaign is over following their stunning loss to the Tennessee Titans.
