The New England Patriots are set to usher in a new era without quarterback Tom Brady in the 2020 NFL season. The onus will now fall on some of the younger members of the passing game like quarterback Jarrett Stidham and wide receiver N'Keal Harry to carry the load.

Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic has restricted their activity this offseason. According to NFL Network’s Steve Wyche, Harry plans on getting to work with Stidham in the near future:

“I talked to Stidham the other day to make sure we read the [passing game] script,” Harry said. “If this goes on for a long time and there is no offseason training or OTAs, we’re going to have to meet up and get to work.”

It is encouraging to see that Harry is anxious to get back to work with his new, potential starting quarterback. Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not he and Stidham will be forced to seek out other alternatives in response to the ongoing outbreak.

Harry is coming off a disappointing rookie year after struggling to fit the billing as a former first-round pick. He started the 2019 NFL season on injured reserve. He then struggled to etch out a role for himself on offense. As a result, he finished with a mere 12 receptions for 102 yards and two touchdowns.

The Patriots are now favored to win only half of their games next season now that Brady is gone. It is safe to say that the mediocre expectations are due to the uncertainty under center. Second-year man Stidham and journeyman quarterback Brian Hoyer will battle for the starting job. Fortunately, it is clear that Harry is adamant about getting his rapport going as soon as possible.
