Chad ā€œOchocincoā€ Johnson isn't one to back down to a challenge, even if he's been retired (from the NFL) since 2011. New England Patriots lockdown cornerback Stephon Gilmore slots in under the same category. What happens when one meshes their competitive spirit? A challenge.

On Thursday, Jan. 9, Gilmore reached out to wish Johnson a happy birthday. It didn't take long for him also to challenge him on the same tweet. After sending his condolences, he proposed a best of three 1-on-1 challenge, all from third-and-8.

Johnson immediately responded to Gilmore of the Patriots. Then, he added a bit more to the challenge. Instead of third-and-8, he proposed it to be moved back to third-and-12.

When will this happen? It appears as if Gilmore has that figured out. He settled on June. No date, just June.

While Johnson has some of the quickest feet in NFL history, it's fair to say that Gilmore is the favorite to walk away from the challenge with a win. Johnson is 42 years old and has not played meaningful football in some time. Gilmore, on the other hand, is a back-to-back first-team All-Pro for the Patriots at the ripe age of 29.

Gilmore led the NFL in interceptions in 2019 with six. He did the same in the pass deflections category with 20. According to Pro Football Reference, he allowed a 44.1 passer rating in coverage for the Patriots, as quarterbacks went 51 of 101 for 599 yards and no touchdowns against him. He also hauled-in two pick-sixes.

While the challenge may be fun to watch, Gilmore of the Patriots should easily win.
