The Baltimore Ravens added some serious depth under center this offseason with Lamar Jackson and Robert Griffin III. It appears the moves have not gone unnoticed by quarterback Joe Flacco.

There is no debate as to who will start the 2018 NFL season. However, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley, safety Eric Weddle has noticed an extra pep in Flacco's step.

“Drafting Lamar [Jackson] and bringing [Robert] Griffin in, it’s lit a fire under him,” safety Eric Weddle said. “You can tell. It has shown.”

Baltimore kickstarted the offseason by signing free agent quarterback Robert Griffin III after a brief hiatus from the NFL. They also made a splash in the 2018 NFL Draft by trading up to select Jackson with the last pick in the first round. That said, it is clear that the Ravens have started to build for their future without Flacco.

The veteran has long established himself as the franchise quarterback after getting the job done in Super Bowl XLVII. Unfortunately, Flacco's performance has fluctuated as of late and it has resulted in Baltimore's recent playoff drought. Although Baltimore has acknowledged their need for more firepower on offense, it was still disappointing to him throw for just 3,141 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in the 2017 campaign.

That said, perhaps bringing in some worthy competition for Flacco could do wonders for him this season. He may be well-aware that he is entering the final stretch of his tenure in Baltimore and could be looking to prolong his inevitable replacement for as long as possible.
