When the Washington Redskins relieved Bruce Allen of his duties as the team's president and general manager, Alex Smith was named as someone who could join the front office. On Monday, Smith addressed the rumors about his potential front-office role.

Last year, Smith signed with the Redskins to become the team's starting quarterback. The veteran signal-caller would start in 10 games as he totaled 2,180 yards, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

But in Week 11 against the Houston Texans, Smith suffered a gruesome leg injury that caused him to miss the entire 2019 season. Throughout the 2019 season, Smith has been seen watching the Redskins from the suite with the members of Washington's front office.

Therefore, many shared a belief that Smith could be given a role in the front office moving forward. The 35-year-old quarterback shut down the rumors on Monday and shared that he still intends to play in the NFL again.

With the team selecting Dwayne Haskins in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, it's tough to envision Smith remaining in Washington. Nevertheless, it would be quite the spectacle to see Smith play under center again after his serious leg injury.

Along with the Alex Smith rumors, the Redskins are expected to hire Ron Rivera as their head coach in the near future. If he's hired in the nation's capital, Rivera would likely be tasked with helping Haskins grow as a quarterback.

Provided that, Smith doesn't fit in Washington's plans for the future as a player. In addition, Smith doesn't see himself being part of a front office yet either.
