New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is $6.1 million richer after a jury awarded him a payout in a diamond fraud case.

Brees and his wife alleged that Vihad Moradi of CJ Charles Jewelers lied about the value of diamonds they bought as an investment. According to the Breese family, Moradi said the diamonds were worth more than $15 million when they weren't. According to CBS Sports, the jury awarded Brees and his wife $6,130,767.

“It was our position that Mr. Moradi breached his fiduciary duty, and that's essentially what the jury said,” attorney Andrew Kim stated. “They saw Mr. Moradi for exactly what he is: a grifter and a confidence man.”

Moradi, who has already said he will appeal the decision, denies the claim that he misled Brees and his wife.

“Mr. Brees told me that he was interested in purchasing great pieces for Mrs. Brees to have in the family for the long term,” Moradi testified. “The investment is always related to the long-term legacy pieces to be held in the family. The investment is in that context only.”

With Moradi appealing the decision, that means Brees and his wife won't get paid right away. Moradi will probably try to exhaust all of the appeals possible and if he loses them all, only then will he pay back the money to Brees.

Brees admitted earlier this month it was a distraction and he just wanted it to be over. Hopefully, the appeals don't distract him or take away from his play on the field.
