Professional athletes make a ton of money, but it has become common to hear such players go through financial problems. According to a recent report by TMZ Sports, it seems that New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees could be put in the same category, as the jeweler the signal-caller is suing is claiming that the future Hall of Famer is having money troubles.

The jeweler being sued by Drew Brees claims the QB is trying to shake him down because he's “cash poor” and needs the money … this according to new court docs obtained by TMZ Sports.

It was previously reported that Brees is taking legal action against Vahid Moraldi, the owner of CJ Charles jewelry shop in San Diego, where he spent an estimated amount of $15 million on jewelry.

However, he recently got his bling collection appraised by a third-party before finding out that his items are worth $9 million cheaper than what they originally cost him. As accurate of a passer he is on the field, it seems that Brees lacks precision when it comes to projecting values of his material properties.

It’s hard to imagine Drew Brees having problems with money, especially when considering the fact that he just inked a two-year deal with the Saints last March worth $50 million.

Nevertheless, getting entangled in a legal issue like this does not look good on Brees, who will look to lead the Saints again next NFL season.
