A lot of things could have gone differently for Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals. Instead, they had to bear the pain of seeing CJ Stroud lead the Houston Texans to a victory. The more painful part was that it was a close loss. Fans started to blame Tyler Boyd for the crucial loss. This was because he dropped quite a few receptions. All of them were even darted to him by Burrow. However, the quarterback and offensive engine knew better than to blame his own wide receiver, via Charlie Goldsmith of the Enquirer.

“We wouldn’t have been down there if it wasn’t for him,” was the encouraging message Joe Burrow had to Tyler Boyd after the drop which resulted in the loss.

Boyd was the receiver that contributed the most in this game against the Texans. Zac Taylor and the rest of the Bengals coaching staff had trusted him for the majority of the game. Furthermore, he notched eight receptions and an average of 14.6 yards every time he was targeted. In total, they had gotten 117 receiving yards out of him. Overall, this was the second-best receiving performance for the squad after Ja'Marr Chase who got 124 yards out of receptions.

The Bengals have a lot to resolve after losing to CJ Stroud and Co. But, the quarterback unveiled what the next course of action is, “You’ve got to try to make plays (in the fourth quarter). We’ll watch the tape (on the picks).”

Will they be able to get better late-game execution against Lamar Jackson and his formidable Baltimore Ravens squad come next week?
