Actor Jamie Foxx suffered a mystery illness and just gave his first public appearance since then.

Appearing at the Critics Choice Association Vanguard Award in Los Angeles on December 4, he opened up about his serious health situation, according to Today.

Jamie Foxx speaks about his mystery illness

Addressing the crowd, the Oscar winner thanked everyone and disclosed what occurred.

“I want to thank everybody,” he said. “I've been through something, I've been through some things. It's crazy, I couldn't do that six months ago. I couldn't actually walk.”

He went on to discuss how he was feeling at that moment and what perspective he has had on life since his illness occurred.

“It feels good to be here,” Foxx continued. “I cherish every single minute now. It's different, you know? It's different. It's beyond — I wouldn't wish what I went through on my worst enemy because it's tough when you almost…when it's almost over when you see the tunnel.”

He went on to joke, “I saw the tunnel, I didn't see the light! It was hot in that tunnel! I didn't know what I was doing. Shit, am I going to the right place? I see the devil going, ‘C'mon.'”

The actor added, “I have a new respect for life; I have a new respect for my art.”

He left the audience with encouraging words about being an artist.

“I watched so many movies and listened to so many songs, trying to have the time go by. Don't give up on your art, man. Don't give up on your art,” he said.

Jamie Foxx appears to be doing a lot better, and hopefully, we'll be seeing a lot more from the actor soon.
