Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie had such a great year last season that he is now confident enough to joke about a potential trade away from his current team.

Replying to a recent news bit pertaining to the New York Knicks' reported interest in signing newly-crowned NBA champion Kawhi Leonard of the Toronto Raptors, Dinwiddie could not help but include himself in the conversation. The 25-year-old implied that the Nets have been looking to trade him, and that he is up for the taking.

He was obviously joking, but this is definitely a rumor that has some bearing. Last year, Dinwiddie's name was thrown around as a potential trade candidate, with the Phoenix Suns emerging as a suitor for the services of the 6-foot-6 guard.

Realizing how rapid his development had been last season, the Nets all but quashed these rumors by signing Dinwiddie to a three-year, $34 million extension. However, as implied by the former 38th overall pick himself, the whispers about a potential trade still can't seem to go away, which forced Dinwiddie to question how some Nets fans rate his value for the team.

Perhaps, some Brooklyn supporters consider Dinwiddie to be excess to requirements considering how he will fall further down the pecking order if the Nets are indeed able to sign Kyrie Irving in the offseason. Given how he has shown some starter potential, there might be some teams in the market for Dinwiddie, and to some fans, it would seem like a good idea to at least test the waters to see what they can get in return in a potential trade deal.
