Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh gave glowing remarks about Morgan State safety Jordan Toles. Double Take Sports' Carita Parks inquired about the progress of Toles, the only HBCU player present at the Ravens' rookie camp. Harbaugh seemed impressed with the young safety's performance thus far.

“Well first of all, his tape is really good, he's a very productive player,” Harbaugh said. “Then we had him for the workout and he looked really good moving around. He's a big, strong guy and he moves well. He's a defensive back. He looked really good the last two days. I just think he's an instinctive player who's got a high level of ability, so we like those guys, especially those guys from around here. There's five really good programs in this area that we have a lot of respect for.”

Toles joins fellow peers such as Virginia State's Willie Drew (Carolina Panthers); Alcorn State's Jarveon Howard (Green Bay Packers); Howard University's Anim Dankwah (Philadelphia Eagles); and Grambling State's Sundiata “Sunny” Anderson (Seattle Seahawks) as HBCU players who received rookie camp invites. No HBCU players heard their names called in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Toles played two seasons for the Morgan State Bears, though the multi-sport athlete originally committed to LSU. He was a four-star safety prospect in high school and a three-star basketball recruit. 247 Sports had him ranked as the 11th-best safety in the country, and Rivals.com listed him as the fourth-best player in all of Maryland. He played in a handful of games for the Tigers across his freshman and sophomore years, but couldn't manage to carve a consistent role. In 2022, he transferred to Morgan State.

Across his two years of play at Morgan State, Toles recorded 114 total tackles (67 solo), seven pass deflections, six tackles for loss, four interceptions, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and half a sack. Almost all of Toles' numbers increased from his junior to senior year. He registered 16 more tackles, two more interceptions, and three more pass deflections. In the Bears' final game of the season, Toles racked up 14 total tackles and a partial tackle for loss against Howard University. Earlier in the year, he posted five tackles and two interceptions against Akron.

Toles' ball-hawking skills could come in handy for a Baltimore Ravens team that just lost starting safety Geno Stone. Stone finished second in the NFL in interceptions with seven, but he left for the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency. John Harbaugh and the Ravens hope to replace Stone's production, and Toles could be the answer.
