Wednesday Season 2 is shaping up with its casting. It was just announced that Westworld's Thandiwe Newton will join the hit Netflix series.

Variety broke the news that Newton will star in the show about Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega. It focuses on the teenager from the Adams Family who experiences school and growing up.

Newton is no stranger to TV. In HBO's Westworld, she starred as Maeve Millay, a Host who escaped to search for her daughter. The role featured her as the Madam of Mariposa Saloon until she started to remember her other experiences.

The part earned her three Emmy nominations for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, which she won in 2018.

Additionally, she starred in The Slap, Big Mouth, Human Resources, and Rogue and had movie roles in Crash, Beloved, W, and The Pursuit of Happyness.

Who she'll play on Wednesday is under wraps, and there's no telling yet. The new season is set to debut sometime in 2025.

It's looking like a fantastic season, though, with the cast of characters. Town and Country reports Ortega is reprising her role. Other returning cast members include the Addams family members Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley. Additionally, many of Wednesday's classmates at Nevermore are coming back. This includes Enid Sinclari (Emma Myers), Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday), and Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White).

“It's been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world,” showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar said in a statement. “Thrilled to continue Wednesday's tortuous journey into season two. We can't wait to dive head first into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn't emptied the pool first.”

It's been an incredible release for the streaming platform, becoming the third-most-popular series on Netflix, behind Stranger Things season four and Squid Game. Also, it's twice broken a record for the most hours viewed in an English-language TV series.

Though the second season's exact plot is still being revealed, it seems like it will take some interesting directions.

In an interview with THR, Gough said, “We wanna sort of explore and sort of complicate all of those relationships going forward. The school was closed when they left, which gave us the most possibilities for season two, and I think that's something that we're excited to explore. For us, the show also is really about this female friendship, with Wednesday and Enid really being at the center of that. The fact that they really connected with audiences it has been really gratifying. So, we're excited to explore now that Wednesday's dipped her toe into the friendship pool; what's that gonna look like? It's like she hugged. That was her big arc for the season, right? So it's like now, we do that. Then, the other thing that's really interesting is to continue to explore the Wednesday-Morticia mother-daughter relationship as well, which now that Morticia knows about the power, it has given her sort of an idea of how that's going to go. How is their relationship going to evolve.?”

With Thandiwe Newton and the other stellar cast and crew, we can't wait to see what kooky and spooky happenings come with Wednesday Season 2 when it's released.
