Nearing the end of a brutal season, the New York Jets showed a ton of promise during Sunday's thrilling Week 17 match-up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After nearly pulling off an upset win against the reigning Super Bowl champs, this undoubtedly would've been the highlight of the Jets' season. Even though they fell short, they still brought the heat all game long and had Tampa on the brink of defeat.

Zach Wilson and Co. played with poise and went toe-to-toe with one of the league's best teams until the very end. So as they reach the conclusion of their season, the Jets still have plenty to look forward to this summer.

Let's now discuss two takeaways from the Jets' Week 17 collapse against the Buccaneers.

New York Jets Week 17 Takeaways Vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2. Zach Wilson was efficient for the Jets

With 234 passing yards and a touchdown on 19-of-33 passing, Zach Wilson was efficient as ever for the Jets and further tapped into his potential as a future superstar in the NFL. His continued pursuit to growth and development has shown in the past few weeks. Plus he went the entire game without throwing a single interception, which definitely paid dividends for them as the game went on.

Even though he has had a tough go of it during his rookie season, Wilson knows that good things take time. As the season progressed, he has slowly started to make significant strides to becoming a Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback in this league. Granted he's not anywhere near that just yet, but he's definitely made improvements over the past month and will only continue to develop in due time.

Not to mention he held his own against a deep and talented Buccaneers defense that has been known to dismantle opposing offenses on a weekly basis. Like a fine wine, Wilson's play will only get better with time, and under the direction of Robert Saleh and Mike LaFleur, his game will elevate to new heights over the next few seasons.

1. Bryce Hall stepped up for the Jets in Week 17

Tying C.J. Mosley for most tackles on the team against the Buccaneers in Week 17, Bryce Hall stepped his up game a ton and helped the Jets  come away with some major defensive stops throughout.

In what has been a brutal season for them across the board, Hall has proven to be another bright spot for the Jets on defense. As they work tirelessly to become an elite defensive unit in the NFL, Hall's stellar play will give them another defensive stalwart that can lead by example.

As a defensive guru, Saleh needs as many high-IQ playmakers as humanly possible on that end of the field. Things have been tough for the Jets, but with Hall's performance against Tampa Bay on Sunday, New York has found another major asset to them moving forward.

In Hall, the Jets now have a multi-skilled player to build around on the defense.
