The Detroit Lions suffered another hard-fought loss on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. The Lions lost 13-10.

This is the second week in a row that the Lions almost walked away with their first victory of the season but didn't do enough to finish the job. In Week 10, they tied the Pittsburgh Steelers 16-16.

Unfortunately, the Lions weren't able to walk away with a win, but things have looked better for Detroit. Prior to the last two weeks, it seems like they were getting blown out every other game but that hasn't been the case for them recently.

The Lion's season is already over as they are 0-9-1 but this might not be a bad thing for Detroit. There's obviously some talent on this team as they have competed in some of their contest. Being able to have the number one draft pick and draft an elite quarterback will desperately help the future of this organization.

At the end of the day, a loss is a loss. There were some positive takeaways from their loss against the Cleveland Browns so let's take a look at a few of them.

Lions Week 11 Takeaways

3. If Jared Goff was there, the Lions win

Although many Lions fans want Jared Goff out as their quarterback, he is still much better than Tim Boyle.

Tim Boyle went 15-23 for only 77 yards and threw two interceptions. Jared Goff has not been amazing this year but he certainly would have been much better than Tim Boyle was on Sunday against the Browns. If the Lions had any sort of passing game on Sunday, they probably would have walked away with a victory in Cleveland.

This has to give them some hope as they were able to compete with a potential playoff team with a quarterback who only has 27 throwing attempts in his career. Jared Goff has the possibility of returning against the Chicago Bears on Thursday night. This will definitely help out the Lions and possibly even lead them to a victory.

2. D'Andre Swift is an elite running back

His numbers don't necessarily show that he's an elite running back, but on Sunday he was able to show why he is. Most of the offense was run through D'Andre Swift and because of that, he was able to put up 136 yards and had a long touchdown run. He was able to put up 136 yards for the Lions with only 14 rush attempts which means that he averaged 9.7 yards per carry.

This is exciting for the Lions because when they drafted D'Andre Swift, they expected him to be the running back of the future. He has proven throughout his career that he is definitely capable of being an elite running back. He showed that this week against a tough Cleveland Browns rush defense. The Lions should think about handing him the ball more often in the future as he will offer a spark for their offense.

1. The defense has stepped up recently

The Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers don't exactly have the most high-powered offenses in the NFL. Both teams still have above-average quarterbacks in Ben Roethlisberger and Baker Mayfield. The Lions defense has been able to step up over these past two games and have only given up 29 points combined. If they can continue to hold teams under 20 points they will eventually see some wins as a team.

It's been a difficult season in Detroit but they do have a good chance of getting their first win on Thursday against the Bears. Chicago announced that Andy Dalton will be the starting quarterback. That will certainly help the Lions get their first win of the season.
