The Philadelphia 76ers took the court Wednesday for the final leg of a five-game homestand. Next up on the schedule was a meeting against a Bradley Beal-less Washington Wizards team.

Despite being without their star player, Washington did not roll over. They managed to hang around all game, and in the final possessions, both sides had an opportunity to come away victorious. In the end, the Wizards managed to put an end to the Sixers' winning streak. Thanks to big performances from members of the supporting cast, they walked out of Philly with a 106-103 victory. Here are some observations from the matchup.

1) Isaiah Joe shows promise

Heading into this matchup, the Sixers would be without multiple pieces of the rotation. Furkan Korkmaz and Shake Milton were both ruled out, and then Seth Curry was a late scratch due to back spasms.

With multiple players on the sidelines, it created an opportunity for some other players to see some extended minutes. One person who made the most of their time on the floor Wednesday was Isaiah Joe. The second-year wing tallied 11 points in 24 minutes of action and shot a stellar 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.

Joe has seen an increase in minutes lately and continues to impress. With the way he is shooting from deep currently, he has a strong case to remain in the rotation when the team gets back to full health.

2) Tyrese Maxey delivers again

Tyrese Maxey was one of the biggest stories in the Sixers' win over the Memphis Grizzlies Monday and followed it up with another strong outing against Washington. The former first-round pick recorded 22 points, eight rebounds, and seven in his 37 minutes of work.

On a night where Joel Embiid looked somewhat mortal, the Sixers needed some juice on the offensive end. Like he's done many times before, Maxey stepped up and did what was needed to keep them within striking distance.

What's most impressive from Maxey's recent run is his balance between scorer and facilitator. This is something the coaching staff has worked tirelessly with him on, and now we are seeing it pay dividends. Not only is Maxey improving as a point guard, but maintaining his high-level scoring abilities as well.

3) Wizards' supporting cast gets the job done

Replacing the production of a star player like Bradley Beal is no small task, but Washington did a tremendous job stealing a win without their best player. Many cited the Wizards' depth as a strength for them heading into the year, and it was on display against the Sixers.

Two of their top offseason acquisitions turned in big performances Wednesday. Kyle Kuzma led the Wizards in scoring with 24 points on 52.6% shooting from the floor, while Spencer Dinwiddie recorded a triple-double (14 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists). On top of that, three players off Washington's bench ended the night in double-figures.

The Wizards deserve a ton of credit for their efforts. They collectively stepped up in the absence of their top guy and did what was necessary to come away victorious.
