The Golden State Warriors had the worst record in the NBA before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19. The Dubs were on their way to missing the playoffs for the first time in the Steve Kerr era.

However, the Warriors should be playoff contenders whenever the 2020-21 season starts since Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins will be taking the floor together.

Curry played in only five games this season due to a broken left hand, while Thompson was going to miss the whole year because of his ACL tear.

Golden State will have a lottery pick in the 2020 draft and, if it's the first overall selection, the team could take Georgia’s Anthony Edwards. The Warriors are reportedly not too high on LaMelo Ball or James Wiseman, two other candidates for the No. 1 pick.

For the Warriors to be championship contenders again in 2020-21 though, here are three moves general manager Bob Myers needs to make.

1. Draft Edwards or trade pick for proven star

Edwards averaged 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists in college this season before the campaign was canceled. He shot 40.2 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from beyond the arc. If the Warriors don’t land the No. 1 pick and wind up somewhere 2-5, they’re said to be fans of Deni Avdija — a 19-year-old phenom out of Israel.

Avdija could even wind up No. 2 on Golden State’s draft board after Edwards, but it should be Edwards or bust for the Warriors in the draft. If they can't get their hands on Anthony, the Dubs are better off trading the pick for a disgruntled star.

2. Sign Montrezl Harrell away from the Clippers

Harrell becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer and the Warriors could spoil Los Angeles' party. The Clippers want to bring Montrezl back, but they might not have enough money since they also have to address Marcus Morris' free agency after sending the New York Knicks a first-round pick for him.

Harrell and Patrick Beverley are pests for the Clippers. Just imagine how lethal the Warriors would be on both sides of the ball with Harrell and Green leading the charge in the frontcourt?

Before the 2019-20 season was suspended, Harrell was averaging 18.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists for the Clippers off the bench. He was also shooting 58.0 percent from the field and 65.8 percent from the free-throw line.

3. Improve bench depth by getting microwave scorer

Every team in the NBA needs a Lou Williams or Derrick Rose — someone who comes into the game and just gets buckets.

The Warriors need their new Shaun Livingston, a player who can run the team while Curry is resting while also being a threat to score. Williams and Rose are both locked up with the Clippers and Detroit Pistons, respectively, but there are some other microwave scorers the Dubs can take a look at whenever the 2020 free agency period begins.

Guys like Goran Dragic, Jordan Clarkson, Reggie Jackson and Jeff Teague could be good additions for the Dubs depending on the money involved.

Whenever next season starts, the Warriors’ core will be Curry, Thompson, Green and Wiggins. That’s three champions, All-Stars and leaders in Curry, Thompson and Green, and a former No. 1 overall pick and athletic specimen in Wiggins — who has a lot of talent and could flourish now that he’s not going to be asked to do everything on offense.
