Seattle Seahawks All-Pro safety Earl Thomas appears to be nearing the end of his tenure with the team after the conclusion of the 2018 campaign.

This has put on the table the strong possibility that he could move elsewhere in the free-agent market where there will be several teams that will voice their interest in acquiring him. With that in mind, his former longtime teammate Richard Sherman has voiced that he would love for Thomas to join him with the San Francisco 49ers. (h/t Kirk Larrabee of 247 Sports)

“Would I love to play with Earl Thomas III?” Sherman said, per Nick Wagoner of ESPN. “Sure… I would love to have him back in the locker room but I’m sure he’ll have a plethora of opportunities but I’m sure we’re gonna throw our hat in the ring.”

The 49ers will have the necessary salary cap space to offer Thomas the desired lucrative long-term deal that he will be searching for on the open market. The opportunity to play alongside Sherman could be quite appealing for him at this point in his career.

It is also quite intriguing for him to have the chance to face the Seahawks at least twice a year due to both the Seahawks and the 49ers being NFC West teams. This is something that greatly appealed Sherman and led to his choice to sign a three-year, $39 million deal to join the 49ers last offseason.

Beyond that, this is a possibility that could be on the table if Thomas expresses any interest in making the move to San Francisco.
