San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has made his displeasure with the organization known this NFL offseason, as he has been cryptic with his social media page while also reportedly requesting a trade. Samuel has yet to sign a new contract with the 49ers, as he is reportedly displeased with the way he was utilized in the offense during the 2021 season. While his teammates, such as tight end George Kittle, have spoken more positively about the contract drama, the events of Monday afternoon indicate that the situation is far from resolved. With the 49ers' OTAs kicking off Monday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport has the latest on the Samuel situation.

Per Rapoport, Samuel will not be in attendance for the start of the 49ers' OTAs. While it's not particularly surprising, it's still notable that the two sides seemingly haven't made much progress in their negotiations.

Samuel, who missed the team's voluntary workouts earlier this offseason, seems determined to cash in during an offseason where other NFL receivers, such as Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders and Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins, have signed the dotted line to some large deals.

There's no doubting that Samuel, who earned All-Pro honors this past season, is valuable to the 49ers' offense, as evidenced by his career-best 1770 scrimmage yards and 14 total touchdowns in 16 games played.

With training camps about two months away, the 49ers will want to get this Samuel situation resolves sooner rather than later, lest it pours into the start of the 2022 season.
