Since Jimmy Garoppolo took over the reigns as the starting quarterback, the San Francisco 49ers have yet to lose a single game.

Garoppolo's strong play in his first few appearances with the 49ers has already convinced general manager John Lynch to state during an appearance on FS1 on Thursday that the team will use the 2018 NFL Draft to help build a team around the 26-year-old. “It frees you up in the draft to go looking for other needs and build your team around him,” Lynch said of having Jimmy Garoppolo in the fold.

In his first three starts with the 49ers, Garoppolo has been quite productive under center, throwing for 1,008 passing yards on 68.1 completion percentage with two touchdowns and two interceptions while holding a 94.6 passer rating. This is highlighted by orchestrating a 25-23 comeback win over the Tennessee Titans behind a career-high 381 passing yards.

Garoppolo quickly brought much stability to the 49ers as potentially the long-term future at quarterback for the franchise. This allows for the front office to look into free agency to bring in other skilled-position players around him to utilize next season.

San Francisco may have an emerging star wide receiver in Marquise Goodwin under contract through next season while veteran wideout Pierre Garcon is expected to be back fully healthy for the 2018 campaign.

Handsome Jimmy is currently slated to become a free agent next offseason, which the 49ers will likely place the franchise tag on him in order to keep him under contract for at least another year. This could be a starting point for talks centered around hammering out a lucrative long-term deal.
