The San Francisco 49ers pulled off an upset on Sunday, defeating the Dallas Cowboys, 23-17. In the win, the 49ers got banged up. Pro Bowl defensive lineman Nick Bosa left the game early with a concussion. Also, Fred Warner left the game with an ankle injury and did not return.

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan addressed Warner's injury status with the media after the game.

Warner went down early in the fourth quarter and was seen clutching at his ankle in pain. It was a non-contact injury, which usually does not bode well.

After he left the game, the Cowboys proceeded to finish the drive with a touchdown, cutting the 49ers lead to 23-17. San Francisco barely held on with a controversial ending. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott rushed the ball up the middle in the closing seconds with no timeouts. He attempted to get to the line and spike the ball for one shot into the end zone but ran out of time. The referee in charge of spotting the ball appeared to be out of position well behind the play. But Dallas has only itself to blame for the loss.

Warner had a fantastic season for the 49ers. He finished the year with 137 tackles, seven tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries.

The 49ers hope to have Warner and Bosa next week as the team will travel to Lambeau Field to face off against the no. 1 seed Green Bay Packers.
