Although it was not easy, the San Francisco 49ers were able to maintain their perfect start to the 2019 NFL season with a 28-25 victory. It appears quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo also enjoyed a career night.

Garroppolo managed to secure the hat trick with three touchdowns in the first half and wound up finishing with four in the evening. According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, it was the first time he managed to throw for four touchdowns in a game:

The 49ers quarterback twice had thrown three touchdown passes in a game, including against Cincinnati in Week Two. He had never thrown four in a game.

It is worth noting that Garoppolo had nine touchdowns and seven interceptions heading into Week 9. As a result, his underwhelming play had been one of the few concerns regarding the 49ers' stellar start to the year. He finished the game completing 28-of-37 passes for 317 yards and four touchdowns.

There had been plenty of speculation regarding whether or not Garoppolo was capable of taking over in games where the defense allowed some points and the offense could not get their run game going. It is safe to say that his career performance could not have come at a better time with the Cardinals looking to put together a comeback in the fourth quarter. Fortunately, he was able to quell any potential resurgence with multiple big plays in crucial situations.

Garoppolo's performance is certainly an encouraging sign for the 49ers as they continue to establish themselves as bonafide championship contenders.
