The San Francisco 49ers are taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday as they aim to string together back-to-back wins. They had an early chance to record the first touchdown of the game, but Jimmy Garoppolo blew it big time.

During the first quarter, Garoppolo misses a wide-open Jeff Wilson in the endzone, per Dov Kleiman. I mean, Wilson is wide-open. Nobody is near him. A child literally could have made that throw. Instead, the 49ers starting quarterback misses him, which ultimately led to San Francisco kicking a field goal.

It was an embarrassing display. So much so, Twitter has reacted appropriately by roasting Garoppolo to no end.

Considering many are itching to see Trey Lance under center, Jimmy Garoppolo botching this would-be touchdown pass doesn't help his case. The 49ers fans are hungry to get back in the playoffs and it seems Garoppolo is preventing that from happening.

It's been a hot mess for the 49ers since they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2019 Super Bowl. The team has yet to get out of the rut, even though they have a solid roster on paper. We'll see how much longer Garoppolo will remain as the starting quarterback, as we could see Lance take over sooner, rather than later.

Luckily for San Francisco, they have an early lead over Jacksonville. Maybe Jimmy Garoppolo can redeem himself with a win over the Jaguars. If not, the 49ers could become the laughing stock of the league in Week 11.

Keep an eye on San Francisco's quarterback situation, as Garoppolo continues to show reasons why the 49ers should play Trey Lance.
