Head coach Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers managed to defeat the rival Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon despite being forced to hit the road against an always dangerous NFC West opponent.

However, the focus immediately pivoted back to the San Francisco area following the 49ers' Week 12 win as Shanahan and company currently find themselves in quite the pickle due to some recently ramped up COVID-19 regulations in Santa Clara County.

Because the county is slated to lock things down a bit more moving forward, it appears as though the 49ers won't be able to practice or host regular season games in San Francisco for the foreseeable future. As a result, Shanahan is none too thrilled as the 49ers seemingly only found out by way of the Internet.

“We’ve been working with them as a partner trying to figure it out,” Shanahan told reporters after his team's victory over the Rams, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. “For everyone to find out without them telling us, it was extremely disappointing.”

While the 49ers were obviously hoping for some sort of exemption here, Santa Clara County doesn't appear to be playing any games—no pun intended—as both professional and collegiate sports teams will more than likely be effected moving forward.

“Santa Clara County officials say that no pro or college sports teams are able to have games or practices in the county that include direct contact for the next three weeks. That, of course, includes the 49ers, who have two home games (Dec. 7 and 13) scheduled in that window,” Nick Wagoner of ESPN tweeted on Saturday.

As it stands today, the 5-6 49ers sit in last place in the NFC West division, though the postseason isn't totally out of reach for San Francisco in 2020-21.
