Heading into his first season with the San Francisco 49ers, Pro Bowl cornerback Richard Sherman has much to prove on the field in his return from an Achilles tear that prematurely ended his 2017 season.

There is plenty of doubt concerning the type of performance on the field that Sherman can bring to the table given the significant injury that he is making his way back from. With that in mind, his teammate Marquise Goodwin is ready for the All-Pro defensive back to silence all the haters, according to Tom Pelissero of The NFL Network.

“I know that man is a gamer and he's going to be ready Week 1 through Week 16, 17. For sure,” Goodwin said. “He's one of the players on this team that I'm really looking forward to see (him) shut all these haters up.”

Sherman is quite confident in his ability to make that return to the elite form that was quite evident by his willingness to agree to an incentive-laden three-year, $39 million deal. There is no certainty that will be the case given that many players in the past have struggled to make that transition following that type of injury.

That said, he has the track record on the field over his first seven seasons where he earned four Pro Bowl selections, three First-Team All-Pro nods, and a Second-Team All-Pro selection. Since the 2011 season, he ranks first in interceptions (32), passes defended (99), completion percentage allowed (47.4), and passer rating allowed (50.9). He is banking on his work ethic and attention to detail helping him get back to that point where he can prove to be an anchor in the secondary for the 49ers.

Sherman definitely has all the motivation necessary to push himself to get back to that point, it's just a matter of him showing that on the field this upcoming season.
