The San Francisco 49ers are ecstatic to insert Trent Williams into the offense in 2020 and he's officially a member of the team now. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Williams signed his contract and passed his physical with San Francisco.

During the 2020 NFL Draft, the 49ers were able to acquire Williams from the Washington Redskins. The trade sent Williams to San Francisco in exchange for a 2020 fifth-round pick and a 2021 third-round pick.

As a result of the trade, the 49ers inherited the final year of Williams' current contract. The veteran left tackle is slated to make $12.5 million in 2020. However, upon signing his contract with San Francisco, Williams will half of that up front. At the same time, he'll have the final year of his deal guaranteed.

There's no doubt that the 49ers plan on keeping the Pro Bowl tackle beyond the 2020 NFL season. But given the team's current cap situation and the prospects of the cap space decreasing in 2021, San Francisco will likely wait to ink a new extension with Williams.

Besides his contract situation, Williams was also able to pass his physical earlier this week. Of course, Williams sat out for the entire 2019 NFL season due to a medical dispute with the Redskins.

Before last season, it was discovered that Williams had a tumor on his head. Williams proceeded to blame Washington's medical staff for misdiagnosing the tumor prior to getting the correct diagnosis from an independent doctor.

Despite missing this past season, Williams is expected to be one-hundred percent healthy entering his first season with the 49ers. While fans in the Bay Area were excited to get Williams this offseason, it is officially official now.
