San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster has been arrested due to alleged domestic violence, Sarah Ravani and Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle report. He's being held on $75,000 bail.

But apart from that, Foster has also been booked on suspicion of possessing an assault rifle.

This is hardly the news the Niners want to see involving Foster, who is coming off a strong rookie season in San Francisco. He finished second on the team in tackles despite missing six games due to injury and has shown the potential to be one of the team’s promising young building blocks on defense.

However, the 23-year-old is quickly establishing a reputation for consistently getting into trouble off the field. With his recent brush with the law, Foster has now been arrested twice in the span of a month. He was charged with marijuana possession in Alabama on Jan. 12.

Last year, Foster failed a drug test at the NFL combine after he submitted a diluted urine sample, and was sent home from the combine after he got into an altercation with a hospital employee.

The NFL will now likely conduct its own investigation on Foster’s alleged domestic violence. Even if Foster isn’t found guilty by the court, he may still face a six-game suspension from the league for a first-time offense like the Dallas Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott got last year.

Possibly losing Foster for six games would obviously be a huge blow for the Niners on the field. But even if he does somehow come away scot free, it has to be concerning for the Niners just how often trouble seems to follow Foster around.
