The San Francisco 49ers will host the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football in Week 5 of the 2019 NFL season.

According to Bay Area News Group 49ers reporter Cam Inman, San Francisco will welcome Odell Beckham, Jr. and the Browns to Levi Stadium on October 7.

The 49ers were involved in trade talks with the New York Giants for Beckham.  However, the Giants reportedly wanted the second overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft which the 49ers own. That was a deal breaker for San Francisco.

49ers general manager John Lynch elaborated on his team's stance during the trade talks on March 29, per KNBR (via NBC Sports Bay Area's Josh Schrock).

I think, ironically, the fact that we had the No. 2 pick made it more difficult because they wanted that badly.

They wanted the two No. 1s and we weren't willing to part with that. It was too valuable of a pick.

When the discussions with the Giants for Beckham fizzled out, New York traded him to the Cleveland Browns for safety Jabril Peppers and a third-round draft pick.

49ers fans salivated at the thought of Beckham joining forces with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Plus, putting OBJ in a San Francisco 49ers uniform would've ramped up ticket sales at Levi Stadium in 2019 and beyond.

Unfortunately, it didn't become a reality.

Instead, the 49ers faithful get to watch Beckham and the Browns in Week 5 of the 2019 NFL season. The Niners finished with a dismal 4-12 (.250) win-loss record in 2018. They will square off against an up-and-coming Browns team (7-8-1 in 2018) which experts believe can contend for the Super Bowl.

It should be a fun game, to say the least.
