On Thursday, the San Francisco 49ers did their best to make Jimmy Garoppolo one happy quarterback.

According to Josina Anderson of ESPN, San Fran re-signed wide receiver Marquise Goodwin to a three-year deal worth $20.3 million. The important portion of the deal is the $10 million in guaranteed dough, as is always the case under the current CBA in this league.

49ers general managers John Lynch is thrilled with the transaction, as evidenced by the statement made via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

“From the minute Marquise joined our team, he has shown us everything we want to see in a 49er,” General manager John Lynch said in a statement. “He leads by example with a tremendous work ethic, a trait that helped him expand his repertoire as a football player and post his most successful season as a pro last year. Marquise earned this extension by coming in every day focused on doing his job and, as a result, he made himself and his teammates better.”

Goodwin, 27, will haul in $1.45 million in 2018 under the terms of his previous two-year deal. The new extension will kick in starting with the 2019 campaign.

The former third-round pick of the Buffalo Bills is a true speedster who put forth a breakout season with the 49ers this past season. His final stat-line of 56 grabs for 962 yards and two scores with a long of 83 and an average of 17.2 is evidence of not only a career year, but his deep-threat capabilities.

Garoppolo can now sit back and smile while knowing full well he has his deep threat locked in for another four seasons.
