Despite playing well since starting for the San Francisco 49ers, members of the Tennessee Titans don't view Jimmy Garoppolo as all that special.

This goes specifically for Titans cornerback Brice McCain, who went a bit out of his way to downplay Handsome Jimmy's play against Tennessee.

“It was us,” McCain said, via the San Jose Mercury News. “He came in, he executed, but the chunk of yardage came from blown coverages. That’s about it. He didn’t do anything special. He threw a lot of quick game, get the ball to the receiver’s hands fast, and they made plays. That’s about it. It was nothing special. He didn’t do anything special. He just threw to open guys.”

To be fair, he wasn't killing Jimmy Garoppolo, but placing blame for his team's woes on the defense.

Still, going the “it was us, not him” route isn't all that awesome.

Not all share McCain's sentiment, as members of the Niners do believe the quarterback is special.

“I knew he was a great player; we all did,” right guard Brandon Fusco said after the Niners beat the Titans. “We didn’t know he was this special.”

No matter. It doesn't really matter what other teams think of Handsome Jimmy. What is of importance, though, is John Lynch locking up the signal-caller before he hits the open market.
