On an unsuspecting Sunday afternoon, a Twitter user who goes by the name Niccolo decided to post a series of pictures of Eddie Kingston during his match with Konosuke Takeshita on AEW Rampage with a not-so-kind caption that you can read here. Commenting on Kingston's, shall we say, unconventional body type for a sport typically built on unrealistic muscular definition that takes hours a day in the gym to maintain, this particular user knocked Kingston for his lack of athleticism and doubled down on it shortly thereafter, calling the “Mad King” a “social experiment” on how low AEW fans will sink to support the talent on their favorite show.

Now granted, this post was rightfully flamed by fans hardcore and casual alike, with some calling him a WWE shill and others pointing to wrestlers like Dusty Rhodes who didn't have the body of Hulk Hogan but still managed to become one of the biggest stars in the industry, but in having the conversation, the user actually had the opposite effect of his intended diss, as Twitter rapidly transformed into a Kingston lovefest the likes of which hasn't been seen since his match at Double or Nothing, his match with CM Punk, or maybe even the Players Tribune article where he left his heart on the digital page and broke down his near 20-year journey from wrestling fan to one of the top babyface stars in AEW.

But hey, don't just take the word of a bunch of internet wrestling fans for it, even Bryan Danielson, one of the most respected wrestlers in the business among AEW, Ring of Honor, and even WWE fans, has major respect for Kingston, and is even jealous of the natural talent he brings to the ring.

Wrestling isn't just about abs, (non) AEW fans.

Almost anyone can train to become a professional wrestler. Folks can learn to hit the ropes, do bumps, and get in good enough shape to pull off moves like a frog splash, a German suplex, or even a top-rope suicida.

But what is a whole lot harder to learn, however, is charisma, which the man formerly known as Daniel Bryan believes Eddie Kingston has in spades. Here's what he had to say on the matter in the lead-up to Full Gear back in November as dictated by Wrestling Inc.'s Marco Rovere.

This is what I want to say about Eddie. One, he’s got an incredible heart, and two, he’s such a great wrestler. I don’t know if you guys watched that CM Punk Eddie Kingston match but it was unbelievable.” Bryan said.  “Sometimes I get jealous because I’m not that naturally talented, I see him and I’m like, ‘Oh God, what if I had that?’ So, I think that’s where the disappointment comes in. This is one of the things that Tony [Khan] wouldn’t let air that I said about Eddie, fatigue makes cowards of us all. It’s in every amateur wrestling locker room all across the country. I work my ass off so I never get tired. Eddie is the one guy I know who gets tired and doesn’t stop. That speaks to his heart.”

Who knows, maybe Danielson has had a change of heart since. Maybe Kingston's attempt to douce Chris Jericho with gasoline and set him on fire soured Danielson's opinion on the 19-year vet and he's now fully over the prospects of putting over the increasingly violent New Yorker. But based on their abbreviated but impactful history in the promotion, which would have continued on at Blood and Guts had Danielson been cleared to go, that likely isn't the case. No, even if ‘Kingston's Krew' – which is just himself and Ortiz since Santana suffered a knee injury – ultimately ends up going to war with the Blackpool Combat Club dude to the pre-existing hatred between two men dating all the way back to Chikara, the respect between Danielson and Kington will likely live on indefinitely.

If Kingston's natural charisma is enough to make a certified Hall of Famer like Danielson jealous, who is a random Twitter user who knows how to screenshot pictures to tell folks otherwise.

Could Kingston silence the doubters, get in the gym, and come out looking a good bit more traditionally athletic? Sure. Could he cash in his beerhall bruiser physique for something a little more professional, say, the body of an AEW security guard who is about to take a lariat from Wardlow? You bet but hey, if it worked for Dusty, worked for Vader, and worked for Mitsuharu Misawa, the “Mad King's” favorite wrestler whom he literally tributed with his ring at Full Gear, why can't it be good enough for Eddie Kingston?
