After tearing down the “Forbidden Door” at a pay-per-view literally called Forbidden Door, AEW is on a roll. They've got a new interim champion, a number of new feuds raring to go, and have booked of their biggest televised bout of the year, Blood and Guts, set to take place on free television, broadcast live from the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, for fans the world over to watch free of charge on television.

With matches like Orange Cassidy versus “All Ego” Ethan Page also booked for the card and the backstage fallout from Forbidden Door likely to draw in a larger than normal number of live eyes to the 8 pm EST broadcast, Tony Khan and company have an opportunity to parlay their goodwill from an impressive Pay-Per-View into a summer full of fun shows with interesting names, from Fight for the Fallen to Battle of the Belts III, and even Fighter Fest, which is probably an outdated reference now but remains a notable show nonetheless.

But hey, let's not get ahead of ourselves here; sure, All Out is less than three months away and there are more than a few intriguing opportunities for storytelling between then and now, from the budding Christian Cage-Jungleboy feud to the rekindled rivalry between Danhausen and his “Assboys” but Blood and Guts still has the potential to produce a number of interesting outcomes both in the (double) ring and once the bell rings, as there are a number of performers in the bout who really don't like each other.

3 matchups to watch at AEW's Blood and Guts.

3. Daniel Garcia versus Wheeler Yuta

In AEW, Daniel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta have basically no history. Sure, their respective factions, the Jericho Appreciation Society and the Blackpool Combat Club, have been feuding for a minute now, and Bryan Danielson explicitly mentioned Garcia as a performer he thought was well suited to join the Will Regal-led faction but other than a single shared appreciate in the Interim AEW World Championship Casino Battle Royale, they haven't taken the ring together as either friend or foe.

But outside of AEW, on the independent scene, the duo put on an absolute barnburner of a match for the IWTV Independent Wrestling World Championship, where the Garcia took his foe to the limit in a 60 draw for the belt then-held by Yuta. While this may be news to fans of mainstream wrestling alone, as they probably don't know what IWTV is, let alone that it has a championship currently held by AC Mack, expect a few callbacks to that special day in August of 2021, when “Red Death” took the current ROH Pure Champion to a 60-minute time limit draw.

2. Chris Jericho versus Jon Moxley.

Okay, technically every one on the opposite side of the Blood and Guts match card has a justifiable beef with “The Wizard” Chris Jericho, but after attacking Jon Moxley mere moments after he won the Interim AEW World Championship over Hiroshi Tanahashi, it's safe to say “Le Champion” is pretty high on Mox's enemies list.

Of course, Mox was the one to dethrone Jericho to become the second AEW World Champion, and that feud almost took out his eye – keyword almost – so it's safe to say that Jericho has had a bone to pick with the man ever since, probably even when he was a babyface, and there's no way Mox forgot about what happened back then, either. In a way, these two will seemingly always be destined to face off against each other, but this current iteration of Jericho seems perfectly designed to be a foil against Moxley and the Blackpool Combat Club.

Jericho is a man of many faces. His charm, and arguably the key to his long-term success – has been his willingness to change up his character to suit his needs, and this current version is an over-the-top take on the “Sports Entertainment” that the then-Dean Ambrose left WWE to get away from. While Mox has toed the line between heel, anti-hero, and straight-up babyface star, he's always maintained a sense of authenticity, finding success that is arguably equally as noteworthy but completely antithetical to Jericho's.

Between their combined star power and differing approaches to wrestling, Moxley versus Jericho will always be a guaranteed draw, and Blood and Guts will be no different.

1. Eddie Kingston versus Claudio Castagnoli

Have two members of the same team ever submitted each other at a Blood and Guts match? If not, we might witness history at tomorrow's Dynamite, as Eddie Kingston and Claudio Castagnoli hate each other.

Sure, Claudio has been MIA for a long time – though he bears an uncanny resemblance to notoriously underrated WWE Superstar Cesaro – and Kingston has plenty of bones to pick with the Jericho Appreciation Society, but if the ending of Forbidden Door is of any indication, the feud between Kingston and Castagnoli is back on, and its intensity feels like it never left.

The feud between these two primarily dates back to their shared time in Chikara, ending (at the time) with Castagnoli beating Kingston in 2011, over a year after the infamous Respect match, which Castagnoli also won, though Kingston did not offer his respect in return.

If the most recent episode of Road to Dynamite is of any indication, William Regal may have to worry more about violence among his own team rather than violence from the JAS.

One thing that is for sure is that this friction will undoubtedly make this iteration of Blood and Guts far more interesting to watch.
