Boston Celtics big man Al Horford has finally come to terms with the fact that him playing center is the best thing for him and his team. The 6-foot-10 Horford is a power forward by trade. Initially, he didn't like the idea of playing too many minutes at center. However, he now realizes that the Celtics benefit from this far too much for him to resist  any longer.

“Well, the way that the game keeps changing, playing the 5 works to my advantage,” said Al Horford to the Boston Herald. “And with the lineup that we have and all the guys that we have, I feel like we’re most explosive if I play more 5.

Al Horford is versatile, which isn't uncommon for bigs in the NBA these days. The five-time All-Star averaged 12.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists last season. He also shot 42.9 percent from three. His impressive quickness and ball handling lets him take advantage of slower centers off the dribble. At the same time, he can draw opposing centers out from under the basket as a threat from deep. He gives the Celtics limitless options.

With Gordon Hayward returning at 100 percent this year, the offensive potential of Boston will continue to expand. Every player in their starting lineup will have the ability to shoot, drive, dribble and pass, putting tremendous pressure on defenses that will face them this year.

NBA fans may get a preview of their top lineup in the team's first preseason game this year against the Charlotte Hornets on Friday.
