Phoenix Suns forward/center Alex Len intends to sign his $4.2 million qualifying offer before the start of training camp, slating him to become an unrestricted free agent by the offseason of 2018, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Suns are slated to open camp on Tuesday at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, giving the former Maryland Terrapin only five days to put ink to paper.

Len was the fifth overall pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, spending his summer as a restricted free agent. With a dying big man market with scarce opportunities, the 7-footer ultimately opted to re-sign and test the waters in a less-competitive situation next season.

The big man has shown promise in spurts, averaging nine and eight points per game during the last two seasons with the team, drawing a total of 80 combined starts. Viewed as a lanky rebounder and shot-blocker with a growing offensive repertoire, he's only garnered minutes in the low twenties, making it tough to make his numbers pop for any viable suitors.

Through 34 starts last season, he posted 8.0 points in a more-efficient 50 percent from the field, 6.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.
