The Los Angeles Angels have finally won a game. A Shohei Ohtani masterclass led the Angels to a 5-2 win over the Boston Red Sox, snapping a 14-game losing streak.

Ohtani collected two hits, one of which was a two-run home run that gave the Angels their first lead, while allowing just one run in seven innings on the mound. With Mike Trout sidelined, the reigning MVP

According to Sam Blum of The Athletic, Ohtani explained that the mental anguish was real during the losing streak. He expressed regret over not being able to snap the Angels' skid sooner but was relieved he could do it Thursday night.

“I’m not the only one that was going through this,” Ohtani said of the mental toll that accompanied the losing. “The team, as a whole, we were all down, kind of struggling. I had a couple chances to stop the losing streak on the mound, but I wasn’t able to do it.

“I was glad to be able to do it (Thursday).”

Andrew Velazquez's three-run home run in the sixth inning secured the Angels' first victory since May 24th. The skid featured several close losses, the most brutal of which was off a walk-off home run against the Philadelphia Phillies, and the firing of manager Joe Maddon. After saying that the players should face the blame and that he was underperforming, Shohei Ohtani got to work on the mound and put the team back on the right track.

Although the Angels are back in the W column, they will have a tough time staying there. They face the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers across their next five contests.
