Los Angeles Angels two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani may not have won the MLB Home Run Derby, but he put his participation money to good use.

Ohtani was gifted $150,000 for partaking in the event and decided to split the earnings between 30 different Angels staffers for their hard work within the organization, according to the OC Register's Jeff Fletcher. What a good guy.

Ohtani was a heavy favorite heading into Monday night's festivities in Denver, but Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto ultimately out-dueled the Angels phenom in the end in an epic tiebreaker during the first round. Ohtani decided beforehand that he would donate the money either way regardless of the result. The winner was awarded $1 million, while the runner-up landed $500,000. The Angels are already absolutely buzzing they have a talent like Ohtani on their roster and when he does things like this, it just goes to show why he's such a fan favorite.

As for the Derby, New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso went on to win the event for the second straight year after also capturing the honors in 2019. He beat Orioles first baseman Trey Mancini in the final with 23 homers to 22.

While Shohei Ohtani didn't come out victorious, he definitely made the most of the Home Run Derby by paying it forward.
