Colorado Avalanche star Nazem Kadri underwent surgery to repair a thumb injury he sustained during a Game 3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. Kadri suffered the injury when he was illegally slammed into the boards by the Oilers' Evander Kane. The injury is expected to keep the Avalanche star out for the remainder of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Or is it? Kadri took to Instagram to respond to a report on his thumb injury with a bold comment, potentially hinting at a return to the ice.

NHL insider Darren Dreger reported the news that Kadri was unlikely to return, but that he wasn't yet ruled out for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Avalanche star then responded by saying “ya, we'll see.”

Hmm. Is the Avs star trying to tell us something here? It sure seems like Kadri knows something everyone else doesn't. Or maybe this is some good, old gamesmanship on the part of Colorado.

Up three-games-to-none at the time of print, the Avalanche don't necessarily need Kadri to advance past the Oilers. They also don't need to mess around with his game status. However, if Colorado advances, they'll need the star center if they want to hoist the Stanley Cup trophy.

Kadri has tallied 14 points, six goals and eight assists in 13 postseason contests for the Avalanche. All eyes will be on the 31-year-old's health for the remainder of the postseason.
