The Colorado Avalanche won Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning in overtime, 4-3, Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, things got even better. Injured star Nazem Kadri was spotted at practice skating around and doing stick work for the first time since injuring his thumb in the Western Conference Finals.

Just over a minute into Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals vs. the Oilers, Evander Kane sent Kadri crashing into the boards. He immediately went to the ice in pain and was ruled out with an upper body injury. He then was forced to have thumb surgery on June 6th. Many believe he will not be available for the series against the Lightning.

However, there is still a chance that the Avalanche forward can return. Kadri is not the only injury concern. Colorado is also without Andrew Cogliano who was also hurt last round.

Meanwhile, the Lightning got one of their stars back for Game 1, Brayden Point.

The Avalanche showcased their speed and depth in their Game 1 victory. Third line winger Andre Burakovsky scored the game-winning goal just over a minute into overtime.

However, despite looking like the better team for much of the game, the fact that it took overtime to defeat the Lightning on home ice is a little disconcerting. That's especially true when you consider how poorly Andrei Vasilevskiy played, allowing two very soft goals. That's not likely to happen again.

If Kadri is able to return this series, it likely would not be until much later. Game 2 is Saturday night in Colorado.
