Since the Miami Dolphins decided a few days ago to make Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry available in the trade market, there has been some growing interest around the league in acquiring his services. He is currently set to play under a franchise tag worth $16.2 million for the 2018 season.

One of the teams that have reportedly expressed a desire to acquire the 25-year-old has been the Chicago Bears. According to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network, there has been zero interest from the Bears toward the idea of swapping Pro Bowl running back Jordan Howard in a deal for Landry.

Talk of this possible trade scenario had sprouted over the last couple of days in order to give both sides comparable players being moved both ways. Howard has developed into one of the league's most talented young running backs that have now posted back-to-back 1,000 rushing yard campaigns in his first two seasons in the league.

The 23-year-old finished with sixth in the league with 1,122 rushing yards, third with nine rushing touchdowns and ninth with 70.1 rushing yards per game. This includes breaking the century mark on the ground five times topped a career-high 167 yards against the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 15.

He is the first player in franchise history to rush for at least 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons while his 12 100-yard rushing games have surpassed Hall of Famer Walter Payton (nine) for the most over the first two years in the NFL.

Jordan Howard is currently on an inexpensive rookie contract as he's set to be in the third year of his four-year, $2.5 million deal. If he can continue this type of production, he will be in line to receive a lucrative offer on his next contract. It would have been quite an intriguing situation had this offer been realistic due to the Dolphins already having a potential workhorse running back in place with Kenyan Drake, who finished with a career-high 644 rushing yards last season. The bulk of that production came in the final five weeks of the year with primary back duties with 444 rushing yards coming over that stretch with a pair of 100-yard performances.

Given the talent level that Jarvis Landry possesses as one of the premier talents at his position, the Bears will likely continue to work toward putting together a feasible trade. There could much more to develop on this front in the coming days.
