The Chicago Bears have made a number of moves this offseason in an effort to secure its future. Needless to say, it seems running back Jordan Howard is part of their long-term plans.

The front office has been busy this offseason trying to shore up its young core of players while clearing up some cap space for the long haul. According to Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun Times, Howard says the team has no intention of trading him:

“They told my agent they have no plans to trade me.”

Howard's update on his status with the team comes as music to the ears of Bears fans everywhere. However, it is one that should not have been in doubt in the first place.

Chicago selected Howard in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Indiana. He has since established himself as the team's premier workhorse back moving forward. He even managed to follow up on his tremendous rookie campaign by rushing for 1,122 yards and nine touchdowns in the 2017 season.

Howard did see a bit of a decreased role in the passing game with the emergence of speedy running back Tarik Cohen. However, that has left him with more time to focus on running the ball.

The third-year back let it be known this offseason that both his and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky's job would be easier with a bonafide playmaker on the outside. Chicago answered his prayers with the signing of wide receiver Allen Robinson. Between Howard, Cohen, and Robinson, there is plenty for Trubisky to work with for years to come.
